I have been blessed!

As some of you may already know I recently got a job with the school district as a sweeper at Garland Elementary. Last Thursday and Friday, and also today, I worked all day filling in for a co-worker who had a death in the family. This was putting me to work at 6:30 AM, and I really only had two "big" duties to do throughout my day. I had to set up for and clean up after breakfast, and the same for lunch. Thursday there were two cute girls that came to help me at lunch. They had the duties of clearing tables and collecting trays when the other children were finished with their lunch. One of the little girls was a very talkative little gal, she she wore mismatched clothes that looked as if they were a size to small and shoes that seems too big. She talked about many things with me, but there were a few things she said that really struck me and got my attention. She said "I don't really have any friends, maybe one or two is all." I tried to brighten the conversation by telling her that I bet the one or two friends she had must be great friends. She replied with " No not really everyone just thinks I am gross." I was busy trying to get the kids in and out of the lunch room and get things cleaned up for the next group to come, so I sort of blew it off like it was just a kid thing and went about my business. She continued to talk to me about this and that and seemed to be a very happy little girl. I did however notice the way the other children would look at her and turn their noses up the sight or sound of her. How sad. I thought of her the rest of the day even commenting to a friend about the girl who talks to much. Then next day I saw her again at breakfast sitting alone. She again began to talk to me and tell me why she was wearing the clothes she had on. This time she wore a shirt that was a bit on the small side and a pair of jeans that seemed to big. She was proud of the jeans and said she had wore them to show a fellow classmate that she in fact did have a pair. "All I really wear are sweats I don't have much jeans" She continued to eat her cereal and talk about a few things she was doing in class, and ran off when the bell rang. At lunch time she told me about her brother who suffers with ADHD and how the kids don't like him either. I felt bad for the poor girl knowing she just wanted someone to listen to her and make her feel like an important person. After lunch was over I didn't think of her much, I was just glad my day was more than half over and I got to go soon. That night I got a call from my co-worker saying he needed me to work for him on Monday as well. I was really NOT wanting to do it but given the circumstances I told him I would do it. I got up this morning feeling very tired and not wanting to go to work. I got everything set up for breakfast and waited for the noisy kids to come in. Half way into breakfast I was changing garbage when my little chatter box found me. "Hello" she said. Oh I was not in the mood for this I was tired and cranky, but she continued on anyway. "I am so blessed" she said. Ok I'll bite. "Why are you blessed honey?" "Well" she said. " I said a prayer and it worked." I stopped what I was doing and asked what she meant. "well some nice people bought us a nice new Christmas tree, and brought us some food for Christmas dinner." I told her that was really nice of them to do that, and she said "Yep and they also brought us some shampoo and soap and , new toothbrushes too. Aren't we blessed?" For a moment time stood still as I looked at this precious little person who was so thankful to have the simple necessities that most of us take for granted each day. Tears ran down my face as she stood in front of me with a big smile on her face, so happy to have the "simple " things.
I know why I needed to into work today, I need to hear the lesson she had for me. I had not been in the Christmas spirit at all this year and to be honest was wishing I could just skip it this year. I think God sent me to work today so this young child could teach me, and remind me the special blessings that the season brings to us. It is not the expensive gadgets that the kids want or the cool steam cleaner I desire. It is simply love and acceptance for those around us. After all that is what Christ gave to us, love and acceptance.
Merry Christmas to you all. I hope you can all take a moment and ponder the reason for the season.
God bless you .

Time to update

It seems like all I have done for the last two moths is go go go. So here are a few of the highlights from Aug and Sept.

My good friend Joann and her family, and me my girls and Grammy headed out west to see history in the making at ATK. We got there two hours before show time and had a picnic and had some good laughs and conversation while we waited. It was a good thing we had a good time waiting because the show was called off. Bummer...Grammy said "well that was a waist of a perfectly good day, oh well"
My cute little Grammy

The kids had fun playing

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!!

Dad turned 60 in September so of course we had to party. He had been having trouble with his lawn mower, and it finally just died. So this is the new one he got for his birthday. He was so happy to have a new toy. Isn't it just a beauty?

Kelly came to celebrate with us, but I guess she didn't want anyone to know so she tried to hide behind her pineapple. Hehe...I see you Kelly Lee.
It is always fun to have the girls all together, we have such a great time together. My sisters are such a blessing to me and I love and appreciate them more each day.
Balloons

We did some super fun stuff while everyone was around for dads b-day. We took Grammy out to Antelope Island to the balloon fest, and to see Garr Ranch (I think that is what it was called)

Anyway at the ranch I saw this cool old truck and had to snap a pic of the girls next to it.

Dad tried to teach Kylee how to rope a cow.
But....She missed. Good try sis.
ZOO
We also took a day and went to the zoo to see the baby animals. We really wanted to see the elephant but we were a few days early and she was not out for viewing yet. We did see the baby giraffe and baby tigers though. We really picked the wrong day to go, we went on Labor day, and it seems everyone else in Utah had the same idea. There were TONS of people at the zoo.

My Addiction

And of course I had to take more pics of the girls.

Well we are sort of caught up now so I can get off this darn purter. I will be back on tomorrow to post some more.

Why

Sometimes I wonder why I even do a blog. I don't think anyone even reads about my boring pitiful life. I never do anything exciting, we don't camp, don't have a boat or any other toys. We don't go to family activities, or take vacations. We have no home renovations going on, (wish we did) my life is so boring. I could take pics of all the new pens I buy and post all about them, or tell you all how my Farm Town farm is growing, or what I made for dinner, but would anyone even care? I doubt it. Maybe when the kids go back to school I can post about the activities they do. I don't mean to be a baby and complain to you 2 people who read this, I guess I just needed to vent to someone I will stop now.

Biker Babe!!!

Tay has been doing nothing lately but riding her bike. She learned how recently and cant get enough of it. She gets all geared up and heads out to ride. She has such an imagination in that little head of hers. I went out to ride with her one day and she took me on a "Journey". We went to Africa to see all the animals, got an ice cream cone, went to the ocean and layed in the sand, and got a snow come on our way home. I had so much fun going on a "Journey" with my little Tayter Bug, and I am excited to go on many more with her. Thanks Tay for keeping me entertained.

Swimming Lessons

The girls wanted to take swim lessons this year and this was the first time in a long time that I didn't have to work everyday of the summer (I am never going to work again by the way) so I thought it would be a great idea and fun for them. Kylee improved a lot on her breathing and strokes and Tay learned that it is ok to get your face wet. I am so proud of them they did a great job and I look forward to next year

Road Trip

My sister and Rosie were going to be in Northern Idaho for a few weeks in July so my mom got the idea to go road tripping and see them for a few days. At first I was not wanting to go but then decided it was probably a good idea, my girls were going a long so I would take the opportunity to spend some time with them, and I am glad I did.

The view from my room

We had so much fun. We went to Rosie's mom and dads place to see the new home they are building, and it is going to be beautiful when complete. We rode around on their 4-wheelers
Kelly and Tay

We went to Dwarshak Dam

And Dwarshak Res.

We also went to the fish farm but it was pretty boring, nothing but a few old salmon getting ready to die.

The best part by far was getting to spend some time with my family, I don't get to see Kelly and Rosie very often so it was very fun to see them.

The worst part.....Taylor was car sick the ENTIRE time.

COLD summer BBQ

Chads mom invited us to her place in Ogden for a BBQ last Saturday. Chad was sick so he stay at home and the girls and I went (again I know you are surprised that it was just me and the girls). We had a great time just sitting around eating GREAT food and having good conversations. It was a fun day even though it was cold.

Grammies Flowers

I love to take pics, I know you are all surprised, so the other day when I was at my grandmas feeding the cat I took a few pics of her flowers. I think they turned out well. Don't you?

UP

Last week my sister Valorie and I decided to surprise our kids with a trip to the movies. We had it planned for a few days and kept it a surprise. I had told the girls that I needed to run to Brigham to get a few things and surprised them when I pulled into the theater they kept sawing "mom what are you doing, why are we here?" I didn't saw a thing and we just walked in and bought our tickets. When I said "three for up" they both jumped for joy and were so excited.
We had a great time and we plan to meet for a few more movies before summer is over

Rocker Chicks

The girls were listening to music the other day while I was playing Farm Town. I turned around to see what they were doing and this is what I saw. Taylor had on her Sponge Bob Swimming suit, her stunner shades and her ballet skirt, using the Guitar hero guitar to "jam out". Kylee had on her new skirt pretending she was the "singer". So cute

Schools Out For Summer!!!!

The girls are soooo excited to be out for summer. I however have mixed emotions. They are already bored and "have nothing to do". The last day of school was enjoyed by them both. The school had a water day with a lot of activities to do. I think my girls enjoyed the slip and slid area the best. Taylor had gotten out the day before, so when she and I went to watch Kylee play in the water she was not dressed to play in the water and she really had no desire to anyway. Well after a few minutes Tay found a friend and went to play in the water. At first she just ran down the thing then oops she slipped, she decided that it was pretty fun to slid on her bum, not long after she was soaked. Kylee had her fun on it as well. After the water fun we went back to Kylees class for their activities. They had lunch in the class and played a few games. Mrs. Smith, Kylees teacher, presented them with their 5th grade diploma and gave them all a root beer so they could say "cheers" to all the fun things they did through out the year. It was a fun day for the girls.

More Pictures

Yes I have done it again. I love to take pics of the girls and I got the opportunity to do it again on Saturday. Here are a few for you to look at. Taylor is getting better at having her pic taken but she still wont have anything to do with getting her hair done. Enjoy!!

Spring Fling

Fielding School had their annual Spring Fling last Friday. The girls and I went to have fun and play for a while. Here are a few pics of the girls enjoying their evening

Mothers Day Tea

Kylee went to Achievement Days A few weeks ago and was gone for a LONG time. I was getting worried a little wondering what was going on. She came home about 3 hours later with an invitation to a Mothers Day Tea. So that is what they have been doing for 3 hours. I was so excited Kylee and I don't get to do much together (just us two), so I was really looking forward to this. Then the next week she was gone Wednesday from 3:30 till like 7:00, I was thinking wow this must be some event. Then on Thursday she left at 4:30 to do more preparations. I headed over at 5:25 and was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted at the door with a necklace.

Then escorted into the church to a beautifully decorated primary room with fresh flowers on the tables, fancy dishes, gifts, and the most beautiful food table I have ever seen. No I am not just saying that either. I wish I would have got a picture of it. Kylee took me to my seat and presented me with a hat that she had made out of newspaper and flowers.

It was so cute, she had one for herself as well. There were probably about 10 girls and their moms all in their best dress with darling hats and necklaces. We ate great food including chocolate covered strawberries, cheesecake, sandwiches pickle olive and cheese things wedding cookies pasta salad and yummy punch.
The girls sang a few songs for us including one of my favorites, Love at Home. Yes I did cry a little. They recited a poem about mothers hands and then gave us all a lotion. I had such a great time with my Kylee and was so proud of all the hard work the girls had put into the special day. I know all the moms were so impressed.
